Stain Removal Procedures
Any professional carpet cleaner worth is salt knows you don't blind start using spot removers on a stain without first knowing what the stain is. This is the best way to irreversibly set the stain.
If you know what the stain is good! Follow the procedures outlined below. The quicker you address the problem the better your results will be.
If you have no idea what the stain is do a little detective work first. Notice the art to the left. Obviously the family is enjoying a meal together. All goes well until 4 months later you move the table to vacuum underneath and discover a stain.
Calm down and start using those CSI detective powers. What clues do you have that will help you identify the stain?
The stain is under the dining room table. Most likely it is some food or beverage stain.
The color of the stain can help in identification. Is it yellow? Maybe it is a fugitive dye stain from the mustard used on the hamburger.
Does it appear to have some viscosity to it? Perhaps some special sauce used to dip the French fries.
Does it appear to have spread out and soaked in quickly? It could be coffee, juice, wine or some other beverage.
Did you come home a find your pet with a guilty look on its face? Could be urine, loose stool or vomit.
Did you husband track in grease or oil from the garage? Children mud from the yard.
Some of these stains are going to require more than one product or procedure to remove them. Despite the advertising spin there is no one product that is going to be effective on all stains.
If after using your deductive reasoning skills, you still have no idea what the stain is first start with a neutral spotter such as Effortless. The beauty of this product is that it works on 90% of the stains and is unlikely to set the stains that it does not remove.

Grease and Oil
Apply Kleen-Tough directly to the stain. Agitate, working from the outer edges of the stain to the center. This will prevent the stain from spreading.
Lay a clean, white absorbent towel over the spotting solution and tamp with a spotting brush. Repeat as needed.
Rinse with Effortless or extract clean using Carpet Brite.

Shoe Polish
Apply Kleen-Tough directly to the stain. Agitate, working from the outer edges of the stain to the center. This will prevent the stain from spreading.
Lay a clean, white absorbent towel over the spotting solution and tamp with a spotting brush. Repeat as needed.
